This Privacy Policy explains how Placiq, operated by placiq, collects, uses, stores, shares, protects, and deletes personal data when you use our Services.
By using Placiq, creating an account, uploading a resume, connecting or submitting GitHub information, using AI features, purchasing a plan, or interacting with enterprise/recruiter workflows, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to:
- students and learners;
- recruiters, HR users, institutions, and enterprise users;
- visitors to our website;
- users of AI tools, resume tools, project-builder tools, assessments, and dashboards;
- users who contact us for support, refunds, or deletion.
2. Data controller / data fiduciary
For the purposes of applicable data protection laws, Placiq / placiq is responsible for deciding why and how personal data is processed.

3. Personal data we collect
We may collect the following categories of data.
Account data
- name;
- email address;
- password/session data handled through authentication providers;
- role, plan, account status, activation status;
- institution/company association where applicable;
- signup/login timestamps;
- support messages.
Profile and career data
- education details;
- college/institution;
- branch/degree/batch;
- skills;
- projects;
- certifications;
- career goals;
- target roles;
- location if voluntarily provided;
- placement/career-readiness details;
- resume information.
Resume and document data
- uploaded resume PDFs or documents;
- extracted resume text;
- generated resume reports;
- rewritten resume sections;
- resume scores, ATS-style scores, JD-fit scores, and improvement suggestions;
- generated resume versions.
GitHub and public profile data
If you provide a GitHub username or link, we may collect public GitHub profile and repository information, such as:
- username;
- public repositories;
- languages;
- README/project metadata;
- stars/forks/public activity;
- public contribution signals;
- project evidence relevant to career analysis.
Assessment and learning data
- assessment answers and submissions;
- scores, correct/incorrect counts, time taken, levels, XP, progress;
- DSA practice progress;
- project-builder module progress;
- tutor interactions;
- skill-gap results;
- learning-roadmap state;
- feedback on AI/tutor answers.
AI interaction data
- prompts and questions you submit;
- AI responses generated for you;
- resume/project/learning context used to generate AI outputs;
- AI usage logs, token/cost metadata, model/provider metadata where applicable;
- cache metadata and error logs.
Enterprise/recruiter data
- recruiter account details;
- company/institution details;
- candidate searches and filters;
- JD text;
- candidate notes;
- shortlist/status data;
- hiring workflow activity;
- candidate view logs where implemented.
Payment and subscription data
We may collect:
- plan selected;
- amount;
- currency;
- payment status;
- payment reference/transaction ID;
- invoice or receipt metadata;
- manual payment proof if submitted;
- refund/cancellation records.
We do not intentionally store full card numbers, CVV, UPI PINs, banking passwords, or other sensitive payment credentials. Payment processing should be handled by payment gateways or banks.
Technical and usage data
- IP address;
- browser/device information;
- approximate location derived from IP where necessary;
- logs;
- error traces;
- security events;
- rate-limit records;
- pages/actions used;
- cookies/local storage/session identifiers;
- analytics events.
4. Why we collect and use data
We process data for the following purposes:
- creating and securing accounts;
- providing resume analysis, resume building, skill-gap insights, assessments, DSA learning, project-builder tutoring, and career recommendations;
- generating AI-assisted reports and responses;
- personalizing learning roadmaps and recommendations;
- maintaining candidate profiles and recruiter/enterprise features;
- verifying payments and activating plans;
- enforcing quotas, plan limits, fair-use rules, and security controls;
- preventing fraud, cheating, scraping, abuse, and unauthorized access;
- providing support, refunds, account deletion, and service communication;
- improving the Services, debugging issues, and monitoring performance;
- complying with legal, tax, accounting, security, and regulatory obligations.
5. Legal basis / consent
Where required by applicable law, we rely on your consent to process personal data, especially for resume analysis, GitHub analysis, AI career insights, candidate visibility, and marketing communications.
You may withdraw consent by contacting us or using available product settings. Withdrawal may limit or disable features that require the relevant data.
6. AI processing
AI features may process your submitted data, resume text, project details, GitHub data, assessment history, or career context to generate outputs.
AI outputs may be inaccurate, misleading, incomplete, biased, or outdated. You should not treat AI outputs as final professional, legal, financial, academic, hiring, or employment advice.
We may send necessary prompts/context to third-party AI model providers or infrastructure services to generate responses. We aim to minimize unnecessary personal data in such requests where reasonably possible.
7. Storage and retention
We retain data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer period is required for legal, tax, accounting, security, audit, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, or legitimate business purposes.
Indicative retention approach:
- active account data: while account is active;
- resume reports and generated documents: while account is active or until deletion request, subject to backups/legal retention;
- AI logs and abuse/security logs: retained as needed for security, debugging, audit, and cost-control;
- payment and invoice records: retained as required by law and accounting requirements;
- deleted-account backups: may persist for a limited backup cycle before permanent deletion.
8. Where data is stored
Data may be stored using cloud infrastructure and service providers. Depending on implementation, relational/indexed data may be stored in a database service, while heavier files such as resume PDFs, generated reports, AI chat transcripts, and project assets may be stored in object storage.
9. Sharing of data
We may share data with:
- hosting and infrastructure providers;
- database and storage providers;
- authentication providers;
- AI model/API providers;
- payment gateways and financial partners;
- analytics, logging, monitoring, and security tools;
- email/support providers;
- institutions, recruiters, or enterprise users where you have enabled or are subject to candidate visibility/enterprise workflows;
- law enforcement, regulators, courts, or government authorities where required by law;
- professional advisors where necessary.
We do not sell your personal data to advertisers.
10. Candidate visibility
If candidate visibility features are enabled, selected profile information, skill signals, resume/project summaries, assessment results, or candidate intelligence may be visible to authorized recruiters, institutions, or enterprise users based on your settings, product rules, or institutional configuration.
You should review your visibility settings before enabling public or recruiter-visible candidate profiles.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data, including access controls, authentication, rate limits, environment-secret handling, logging, private storage where appropriate, and abuse monitoring.
No internet-based service is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your account credentials and avoiding unsafe uploads or sharing sensitive information unnecessarily.
12. Your rights
Subject to applicable law and verification, you may request:
- access to your personal data;
- correction of inaccurate data;
- deletion of your account or data;
- withdrawal of consent;
- information about processing;
- grievance redressal;
- data export where reasonably available.

13. Children and minors
The Services are not intended for children below the age at which they can lawfully consent to personal data processing without parental/guardian consent.
If you are under 18, use the Services only with parent/guardian consent and supervision.

If we become aware of a personal data breach that requires notification under applicable law, we will take reasonable steps to notify affected users and/or competent authorities as required.
15. International transfers
Some service providers may process data outside India. Where required, we will follow applicable law for cross-border transfers.
16. Marketing communications
We may send product updates, plan information, launch notices, educational content, or marketing messages. You may opt out of non-essential marketing communications.
Service, security, payment, and account-related communications may still be sent.
